(Genesee Brewery worker oversees the crowd gathered for 12 Horses’s release)

Doing it how they did it back in the late 1800’s. I just believe that instead of cases, they were delivering barrels of their finest ales for the locals to become rowdy and good-spirited on. The re-release of Genesee Brewery’s 12 Horse Ale was meet with more fan fare and media attention then most protests and violent crimes that occur in our fair city. 

The anticipation was high as this beer which was Genesee’s first beer they released following the repeal of the 18th Amendment to The Constitution, has not had a proper release for nearly 25 years. The beer resurfaced a couple of times in the past couple of decades but it was not of the original recipe which found the beer off the shelf faster than it was put on. But this time around the Brewery went all out, diving into their vault to pull out their box of secrets and to re-start their former bottling line that once poured that soothing ale into what appears to be brown grenade sized bottles.

Unfortunately, the beer cannot be purchased on it’s own but is currently available in the breweries heritage series pack that contains their original Genesee beer and their much beloved Cream Ale which quenches the thirst and pockets of beer lovers from New York to Florida.  There is hopes from Genesee fans across the board that  6-packs of 12 Horse will be available sooner than later.

The fan-fare surround this beers release only seems to signal that the breweries are a beacon of social and economic prosperity in our ever changing economic climate. Rochester being a working class industrial city along the great lakes is seeing a rising growth in openings of local breweries and an rising interest in craft beer culture. I think the “Record Archive Guy” summed up the fans of Genesee beer the best just moments after he had his first salivating taste of 12 Horse since 1985, “Now that’s a 12 Horse!”
